Championship Game

OH MY GOODNESS, what a final game!! Can you believe the choke job by Memphis??? Congratulations go to Kansas with the big comeback and the overtime win!  What a great 3-pointer for Kansas to force the overtime!

We now have our winners.  They are:

1st Place-   Tracy Beam

2nd Place- Alex Doyle

3rd Place-  Denise Ruffra

Congratulations to the winners and my condolences to the losers (especially Duffy and Gene Z.!)

We had a record number of entries this year and it should mean an even bigger pool next year.  Have a great summer and we will see everyone next March!  Thanks for playing!

Final 4

The March Madness 2008 final game is now set.  Monday night it will be Memphis playing Kansas!  Two really strong performances tonight!

That darn UCLA losing knocked me out of the money and now there are only two players,  Tracy Beam and Bill Duffy, who will go into the final game vying for the top money.  Alex Doyle and Gene Zipperle will be fighting it out for 2nd place and either Denise Ruffra or Donna Stevenson will walk away with the 3rd place money.

It should be an exciting final game Monday night at 9 PM.

Elite 8

Sunday's games are underway and first up was Memphis and Texas.  Memphis showed why they were the #1 seed by grabbing the lead in this game and never looked back.

The second game between Davidson and Kansas was a barn burner!  Davidson had Kansas's number from early on but that last shot just wouldn't go!  Congratulations Davidson on a great run at the big guys!

So now we have an all #1 seed final four for the first time!  The pool standings are now even tighter.  Erin Gould, Diane Swallow, and Mark Shaw fill out the top three spots.

But wait!  with only three games remaining we have 8 players who can take home the big money!  Check out the Player Scenario's!

It's Saturday and North Carolina ends Louisville's bid for the final four tonight and UCLA pounds Xavier.

David Nagle's run for the big pot ends tonight but Erin Gould is hanging tough in first place.  All of the reports are current and be sure to check that Player Scenarios report!

Sweet 16

Who is that Davidson team?  Apparently no one knows because not a single player picked them to beat Wisconsin!  Louisville played another solid game to advance to the Elite 8 while Western KY heads home.  All number 1 seeds advance.

Erin Gould has taken over the top spot with Joe Buoni close behind.  David Nagle jumps 21 spots to third place!  Way to go!

The Player Scenarios report is now online.  Check it out!  Twenty-six players still have a shot at first place!!

Round 2

And now there are sixteen!  Round 2 comes to a close and out of no where comes Christopher Dean jumping 8 spots to tie Diane Swallow for the lead.  Sorry Chris, your lead will be short lived since you picked Duke to win it all!  Better luck next year!  Still hanging tough at third is Rootbeer who is joined by Erin Gould.

Day 2 had one big upset with Davidson taking out Georgetown.  Two Kentucky teams advance to the sweet 16 with Western KY's win over San Diego and Louisville's rout of Oklahoma!

We have a break with the next round not starting until Thursday night.  Be sure to look at the "Projected Standings" report.  There are still a lot of points out there to be had!

Day 1... started out with a bang when Duke was defeated by West Virginia!  Most of the other favorites hung tough against some pretty serious competition!  UCLA survived a scare but Pitt was downed by Michigan State.

We have a two way tie after tonight's games between Diane Swallow and Debra Norris.  Rootbeer (Bill Barker) is running a close third!

Round 1

Day 2... Call it the day of the upsets!  UCONN, Vandy, Indy, Gonzaga, Clemson and Drake were all upset by higher seeds!

Western Ky hit a bomb with time running out in OT to down Drake in a very exciting game and Louisville played a strong game tonight in downing Boise State.

All alone at the top of the pool standings after Round 1 is Gene Zipperle!  Way to go Gene!

With all of the upsets though, we have a very tight pool!  It is still anyone's tournament to win.  More great basketball to be played this Easter weekend.

Day 1 comes to a close with only a couple upsets and some no big surprise losers.

Kansas State over USC is the biggest upset of the night but that didn't fool 31 of the pool players.  Kentucky just didn't have what it takes this year even with the dynamic duo of Bradley and Crawford.  Man, Duke sure pulled one out of you know where.  I sure was rooting for Belmont on that one even though I had Duke picked to win!

Diane S., Gene Z. and Erin G. hold the early lead but it's anybody's tournament to win at this point.  Day 2's games will really shake things up!  Man does it get any better than this!!??

The pool is closed and the games have begun!!

We have 113 pick sheets entered in the pool for a total jackpot of $565.00, our largest jackpot ever!!  That means $395.50 for 1st Place, $113 for 2nd Place, and $56.50 for 3rd Place.  I am also going to give the last place finisher their $5.00 back this year (if there's a tie for last I'll flip a coin).

Thanks for playing and good luck!!

Scott Doyle

Congratulations to Kevin Cowley who takes home this year's 1st place pool prize!!  Second place goes to David Nagle and third place goes to AJ Keys who beats Helen Snyder on the tie breaker.

It was a great pool this year with several players in a position to win it all going into the final game.  Come back next year to play again!  Anybody can win!  Thanks for playing.

1st Place paid: $343 dollars
2nd Place paid: $98 dollars
3rd Place paid: $49 dollars
